The Tarbiya Department is responsible for developing members, giving them the tools and knowledge to develop and help others around them grow, and empowering them with the necessary skills to fulfill our mission and vision.
Tarbiya is a life-long process for change; this change starts with every individual and extends to the whole society. We aspire to raise a generation of committed and disciplined American Muslims who are living example of the message of Islam.

What’s an Usrah ?
What's an Usrah
An Usrah is made of up five to eight individuals who meet weekly to encourage and help one another become better Muslims.
The group is led by a Naqeeb. Members meet regularly to study faith and renew their commitment to work for Islam.
It is an intensive, spiritually-focused, activism-oriented program focused on personal character development.

What's a Halaqah ?
MAS Bay Area also organizes regular youth gatherings, or halaqas, to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood and sisterhood.
All gatherings expand on the personal investment each member has made into consistently attending an Usrah group.
The halaqas manifest in various special events and targeted series like the monthly qiyams, family camps, the Quran by the Bay Series, and Guide People Through Stories (GPS) Series.
